“I wish I knew why this deep, dark lake keeps calling me back. Here, nature surrounds and dwarfs me. I love the fact it’s the scene of early Irish history, it’s where the 6th century hermit St. Kevin’s Bed is located in a cave on the southern cliff face. It was a time and place where ancient Celtic beliefs were fused with early Christianity. It’s more than that, though, I believe there’s a sense of magic about the place. Maybe that’s the same ethereal attraction which called St. Kevin in the first place.” – Rod Coyne.
