Provenance

“The pipe in this composition belonged to my grandad. I remember the smell of his Sweet Afton tobacco as a toddler. He would hand me a matchbox containing a few licorices all-sorts as we sat in his glazed porch. I remember marveling at the shafts of sunlight shining through his blue trails of smoke above my head. He did like a dram of whiskey too, but never to excess. These warm fuzzy memories were always close by as I painted this piece.” – Rod Coyne.
