“I believed that by fusing my most recent (and recognisable) painting styles that could make one plus one equal three. This third style would have the best of two previous worlds. It would be moody and ambiguous in ‘Atmospheric’ fashion, while showing flashes of decisive, hard-edged colour in true ‘Palette Knife’ style.

The weather suited the job in hand as it rolled constantly from on extreme to the other and back again. There was electricity in the air, and I was ready to venture out of my depth, in an attempt to achieve something new. There’s a giddy excitement working to a plan where the results are completely unknown. And that’s a perfect day in any artists book.” – Rod Coyne.
