“Why have I painted this same view ten times or more? The obvious answer is simple; the view excites me visually, its ever changing and none of the ten plus paintings look the same. The view between the islands and headlands towards the Atlantic horizon has a tunnel like perspective which constantly draws me out to sea. The less obvious reason is that I love standing on Ballinskelligs pier. I’m a water-sign, so it’s little wonder that lobster pots, coils of rope and that intense smell of salt, fish and sea utterly float my emotional boat.” -Rod Coyne.
