Provenance

“Why did early christian monks inhabit the near-uninhabitable Great Skellig in the sixth century? Why do I feel compelled to paint those same Skellig Rocks? The monks believed to survive there was their highest homage to God and Nature. I believe by immortalizing those islands I might move a step closer to understanding those pioneering monks and their aspirations. What wonder they must have felt seeing the surrounding ocean and sky dissolve into fiery reds and hot pinks at the day’s end. To be bathed in that light must surly have affirmed their beliefs.” – Rod Coyne.

Rod’s ‘Skellig Blush’ would surely make the perfect addition to any home or office for art collectors and Skellig fans alike. It is signed on the front and carries a date and inscription by the artist on the reverse.
