Provenance
“It’s a familiar story, I want to get everything in to my first picture, when I arrive for the at a new and spectacular plein air location. I’m greedy like that. Afterwards, I’m unsatisfied for the usual reasons, the composition contains too many landscape features, the eye is pulled hither and tither, and nothing in particular claims the viewers attention.
“Today it’s Wray Castle on Lake Windermere, and I’m a ‘wild-card’ contender at the Sky Artist competition 2016. With my mornings work put aside I start painting number two more confident for a couple of reasons. Having studied the view once I know now what to feature and what to leave out, the weather is clearing so that the mountains catch the light, and importantly, I have already completed one canvas so a second will give the pick of the litter for the judges. “Harrison and Pike of Stickle” look majestic now and I believe I am ready to pay homage to their spikiness.” – Rod Coyne.
Rod’s ‘Harrison and Pike of Stickle’ would make the perfect addition to any home or office for art collectors and Lake District fans alike. It is signed on the front and carries a date and inscription by the artist on the reverse.
