Provenance

“Growing up by the sea has heavily influenced what excites me visually. Add to that the fact that I was often on and around ships as a kid (through my dad’s freight career) its no wonder these motifs make me giddy. So I leapt at the invitation to create some new work for the “Dublin Docklands” exhibition . I wanted to create an image which recalls that feeling of puny, insignificance I’d feel as a kid standing beside a ship at the pier. Then pile on top of that the same puny, insignificance the ship would feel as it was rolled by a giant ocean.”- Rod Coyne.
