Provenance
“This painting reminds me of an occasion late, last century when I first tried my hand at painting daffodils. The memory and the emotions are clear to me still. Guilt, because I really should have been studying for my leaving certificate exam. Surprise, because I had no idea that I could counger an image so evocative the flower itself. Joy, for the sheer pleasure of mixing and applying paint. But most vividly still is that memory of Hope, triggered by the stretch in the evening light, heralded by a chorus of birdsong outside my window.” – Rod Coyne.
“Daffodils” is one of a series of paintings born out of Rod Coyne’s constant dialog with nature. The contrasting textures and colors of the subject hold a permanent fascination for Rod.
